Jewelmint review

I’ve been seeing jewelry by Jewelmint showing up more often in magazines, and finally decided to give it a try.  At first, I was a little put-off by the fact that it can only be purchased on-line, but the pieces were unique enough for me to take the plunge.  Jewelmint is a collaboration between actress Kate Bosworth and stylist Cher Coulter.

When you first get started, you’re given sets of pictures and asked to choose your preference to narrow down what styles might appeal to you most.  You then receive personalized items in your ‘showroom’ that you can choose to purchase.  You can also browse the entire line and add/delete items to your showroom, so you are not limited by only items that are suggested to you.  All pieces are $29.99 and new items are added often.  It is monthly subscription service, but you can opt out any month you’d like.

I purchased three pieces to start with to check out the quality.  I was very pleased with the packaging.  All pieces came in a sturdy box tied with a ribbon, that would be great for gift-giving.

First up is the Sanskrit necklace.

It’s a substantial brass-toned piece with very solid enamel beads – it does not feel cheap at all.  These are colors that I don’t often wear, but I thought it would be a nice addition to a neutral outfit – and it looks great for spring and summer.

Next up are the Eros earrings.

These have a very whimsical feel and are quite large and funky, which is something that my jewelry box has been missing.

The last item I chose were the Western Dream earrings.

I wanted something that was sizeable, but not overwhelming.  These have a little boho-hippie vibe happening, which make them not really everyday, but would add a touch of fun to the right outfit.

Overall, I am very happy with the quality of the jewelry, which was the biggest leap of faith when it comes to ordering sight-unseen.  There aren’t that many other pieces that are must-haves for me in the current selection, but I like the fact that there will be new offerings soon and frequently.

  1. There’s currently a Groupon for JewelMint– pay $25 for $60 worth of jewelry. I’d never heard of the company so I went searching for reviews and came across your site. Great review! The pictures are really helpful… love the Eros earrings. I’m buying the Groupon now and am excited to make my first purchase.

  2. Thank you for the information. Life wasn’t as simple as I’d been hoping to make it and am now back in blog mode. Apologies for the snail-like speed of my reply. I’ve read your blog before – I’ve been wanting to try the MUFE foundation for ages and still haven’t taken the plunge. I have to say that I was really lucky with my first few Jewelmint purchases, as there have been a few I’ve received since then that don’t feel as substantial. However, I still think it’s a good deal for the price with designs that are well thought-out and interesting. Bren

  3. Horrible customer service! I tried calling 4 days in a row to skip a month and could not get through to any rep on the phone or through the on line chat option. When you call the 888 -258-3339 phone number you are on hold forever then you are told no one is available and not given the option to hold, only leave a messeage which no one returns!! And on top of that when calling 888-258-3339 you sometimes get this strang recording about an account being active and if you feel you have reached this recording in error to contact your system administrator? What is that all about? I’m thinking this may be happening due to their phone lines being full with callers. Overall very dissatified with Customer service and selection. I have been a member since 4/2011 and have only ordered one piece due to the small selection offered. Now I’m being charged 29.99 for the month of 8/2011 since I have not been able to get in contact with anyone to skip this month and do not find anything worth purchasing.

  4. i agree that quality is hit and miss. The designs are great, interesting but the quality of the pieces are a disappointment when they arrive.
    Packaging is super.
